Mechanical Engineering – Master’s degree from Germany … and then what?

A Bachelor degree from Paderborn University and a follow-up Master’s program successfully completed in Germany provide a great many former CDTF students with excellent career opportunities in the growing Chinese automobile market. Recently, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Bo Jianquan and Dr. Josef Noeke visited Volkswagen FAW Engine Co., Ltd. in Dalian, China in their function as coordinators of the Chinese-German study program. At several Chinese locations, this company produces engines in large numbers for various Audi and VW models produced in China. Jiang Lin, a graduate of the Master’s program in Paderborn (photo 4th from the right), presently works in human resources and, among other tasks, is responsible for recruiting Chinese engineers educated in Germany; he organized the “Alumni meeting” with former students from the CDTF, Paderborn University as well as Munich and Essen-Duisburg. Supervisor Liu Xiao (2nd from the left), one of the first-year students of the very first CDTF year graduating from Paderborn University with a Master’s degree, was also among them. After having worked at VW for more than six years, he now heads a task force in the production-related quality control with mostly Chinese engineers who received part of their academic education in Germany. German is the second corporate language, next to Chinese, which was obvious given the numerous written sheets of information along the production lines.
